Gateway Health is aware of the serious allegations reported involving ACM executive chairman Antony Catalano.
While these matters are now before the courts and must follow due legal process, the allegations described in reporting by Australian Community Media involve conduct that sits in stark contrast to the values and work of Gateway Health.
Every day our organisation supports individuals, families and communities impacted by domestic and family violence. We work alongside victim-survivors, providing health care, counselling, safety planning and referral pathways designed to protect and empower those experiencing harm. Violence against women and family violence in any form is unacceptable and has devastating impacts that extend far beyond the immediate incident.
Our thoughts are with the woman involved, with Mr Catalano’s wife and family, and with anyone who may be affected by domestic or family violence. Situations like this can be confronting for many people in the community, particularly those with lived experience.
In light of these reports, Gateway Health will be reviewing its relationship with Australian Community Media publications, including our use of ACM owned newspapers for advertising, subscriptions and other organisational communications.
Gateway Health remains committed to advocating for respectful relationships, community safety and support for anyone affected by domestic and family violence. Anyone needing support is encouraged to seek assistance through local services or national support lines such as 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732), Safe Steps (1800 015 188), or The Orange Door in Victoria.
Our focus will continue to be standing with victim-survivors and working toward a community where violence has no place.
