Gateway Health is proud to announce a new partnership with On-Country Pathways (OCP), an Aboriginal-led organisation committed to supporting young mob into meaningful employment and career development.
Through this partnership, Gateway Health will offer work experience and placement opportunities for First Nations youth interested in health and wellbeing careers. The initiative forms part of OCP’s broader employment pathways program, which delivers culturally safe, strengths-based support and mentoring for young people across the Riverina Murray region.
Trent Dean, CEO of Gateway Health, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating real, community-driven change.
“It’s all about creating real opportunities, building confidence and helping young people take those important first steps in their careers.
OCP brings a culturally safe and strengths-based approach to everything they do and we’re excited to support that by opening our doors and working alongside them to make a difference.”
The partnership will provide First Nations participants with hands-on exposure to community health services, along with the opportunity to work alongside clinicians, support staff and health professionals across a wide range of disciplines.
Jacki Eckert, Chief Strategy Officer at Gateway Health, said the collaboration builds on the organisation’s commitment to reconciliation and People Living Well.
“We know that genuine, long-lasting change comes from partnerships grounded in respect, listening and action,” she said.
“We’re proud to be walking alongside On-Country Pathways to support young mob into careers that strengthen not only individual futures, but the health and wellbeing of whole communities.”
