The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System recommended the establishment of 8 Family and Carer-Led Centres (FCLC) across the state to support the families and carers of people experiencing mental health challenges.

People with lived experience will lead the new centres which will provide tailored help and access to hardship funds, and connect people to information and services. The centres will be free and accessible to families, carers and supporters of all ages with no need for a referral.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people who live in the Hume region and have lived experience as mental health carers, family members or kin to join the Hume Carers Advisory Group. This group will support the co-design and delivery of the service.

The advisory group will form in February 2023 with the commencement of meetings and interviews thereafter.

There are 10 positions available and the expected length of service of each member will be approximately 6 to 12 months.

What you will be expected to do

Members of the advisory group will need to attend and provide input at regularly scheduled meetings and provide ad-hoc advice or immediate information as required.

Members may also be part of interview panels for the recruitment of centre staff.

The duration of meetings and interviews will be approximately one hour and there will be an expectation for members to review documents between meetings.

Gateway Health will pay a sitting fee in recognition of your professional service, time and input – Further information will be provided at your interview.
