About the role:

In collaboration with DHHS Family Violence Capacity Building Initiative Gateway Health are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Advisor for a brand-new role. 

Liaising externally with referring agencies such as Albury Wodonga Mental Health, Centre against Violence (CAV), ASCO Intake and assessment Service, Department of Justice, Child Protection and other governing bodies. Internally the Specialist Family Violence Advisor works closely with other AOD service streams, the Medical Practice and headspace to provide an integrated response across the company

You will know you have succeeded in the role when Best Interests Case Practice Model Key Criteria have been achieved; and the Service Providers dealing with Family Violence see a collaborative approach in relation to family violence

About You:

  • Tertiary Qualified in Behavioural or Social Sciences
  • You are articulate, with the ability to apply a practice framework focussed on the engagement and assessment with extensive knowledge and experience in risk assessment frameworks
  • With extensive knowledge on best Interests Case Practice Model in the context of Family Violence
  • Have a working knowledge of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. And be able to demonstrate your experience and understanding of the Family Violence Service System
  • Able to provide expertise and encouraging collaborative approaches in engaging with other services in the Family Violence, Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health Sectors.
  • Understanding of the Social Justice principles of and an in-depth knowledge of the gendered nature and dynamics of family violence
  • A willingness and ability to engage with services working with perpetrators of family violence for the purpose of service linkage and referral. 
  • And possess leadership skills in engaging with others in the sector of community services and leading change.
